The magic of the cup

The Draw for the FA Cup First Round Proper took place on Sunday afternoon (nice one Jimmy) and the Shrimps will be making the short trip up the M6 to Brunton Park to take on Carlisle United on the 7th November.

The previous visit to Brunton Park (January 2005) as captured by Kipax (ASFC)

Admission will be pay on the day with no advance ticket sales available from the Pie.

Away support admission prices - East Stand seating

Adults ~ £15.00
Concessions (over 65s and stoodents) ~ £10.00
Children under 18 and over 11 ~ £5.00
Under 11s (with proof and identity) admitted free with a full paying adult (£15)

Fair play to the Carlisle and Morecambe officials for the reasonable ticket prices. Should get a few of the younger, more vociferous element up and improve the atmosphere in the East stand.

The replay, if needed, will be Tuesday 17th November at 7.45pm.

Should be a cracking trip up on the train with a laal sup round the Border city.

Recommended Carlisle boozers include:

The Griffin ~ On the corner of Botchergate and Court Square. Opposite the station and away fan friendly.

The Griffin (CA1 1QX)

Woodrow Wilson (Wetherspoons) ~ Round the corner from the station and a good bet for a few cheaper scoops with the cream of Carlisle dole scum (well it is a 'Spoons).

Woodrow Wilson (CA1 1QS)

Into town and a stop at either the Howard Arms (for a bit of nosebag) or the Kings Head (for a swift Yates' ale). Both if you've got a bit of time for a mooch about.

The Howard Arms (CA3 8ED)

Kings Head Inn (CA3 8RF)

Then finally off down to Carlisle Rugby Club, (just off Warwick Roand and roud the corner from Brunton Park) for a brace of pre match Yates' and a bit of craic with the locals.

The Beehive on Warwick Road is a worthy inclusion to the list but will be heaving pre-match. Best leaving it 'til after 17:00.

Well at least the know nowt JCL doom lords were happy. Any excuse to get on the gaffer's back and abuse the team - nothing ever changes.
