If PPG was into having a flutter we'd of 'lumped on' this one ending in stalemate with the Shrimps picking up eight draws in twelve and the Gulls finishing level pegging in their previous four games in all competitions:

The Shrimps found themselves a goal down on 18 minutes after a controversial penalty when the referee spotted a foul in the box and Nicky Wroe smashed it straight down the centre past Ben Smith.

Five minutes later however it was 1-1 when Mark Duffy drilled a right foot shot past Michael Poke after a flowing move.

The Shrimps began the second half superbly and Paul Mullin put them ahead on 46 minutes with a good finish from Phil Jevons's cross.
But that lead was short lived as Wayne Carlisle headed the home side level with a fine effort that gave Smith no chance.
The Shrimps then created a host of chances with home keeper Michael Poke making a string of fine saves to deny Jevons, Mullin and Laurence Wilson.
The Shrimps looked the most likely team to take the points but they were almost left pointless with a late Danny Stevens shot that was superbly tipped away by Smith.
New loan goalkeeper Ben Smith made his debut for the Shrimps and was one of four changes from the side that last week lost 4-1 at Aldershot.

Morecambe: Smith; Hunter, Adams, Bentley, Artell, Wilson; Craney Drummond, Duffy, Mullin, Jevons. Subs: Davies, Taylor, Parrish, McStay, Moss, Twiss, Stanley.

Torquay: Poke; Mansell, Elis, Robertson, Nicholson; Hargreaves, Thompson, Wroe; Rendell, Benyon, Sills. Subs: Bevan, Todd, Carlisle, Stevens, Charnock, Mills, Taylor.

Ref: P Miller.

Cnut of the week
Step forward and take a bow Mr Miller. How you managed to get it wrong time and time again was a sight to behold and the penalty decision for the Gulls after a quarter of an hour was simply sublime.

View from the gaffer:

"I think our performances have deserved far better than what we have seen this year and looking back to the game against Torquay I certainly thought we did enough to take the three points from that game. But we are where we are and we need to start picking up wins now.

"We are not far away. We are creating chances but we need to start taking them and when we do I am sure we will start to rise up the table.''

Can't disagree with any of that Samuel and the lads over at PPG towers are still 'keeping the faith' (for another month or so at least - the fickle b@stards that we are).

More photos from the weekend to be added once they get developed at Bonusprint and if anyone found a green Baracuta G9 on their travels round down town Torquay on Saturday night could they give it us back, ta..
