With the potent Shrimp's strike force of Mullins/Jevons out of contention due to picking up knocks in the physical Lancashire derby against Accy on Boxing Day it was always going to be an uphill struggle against a top of the table Rochdale side.
The 90 minutes proved to be a lesson in finishing from one of the league's top teams and a sure fire bet for promotion this season (after aeons of arsing about in the fourth division).
The second defeat over the festive period for the Shrimps and the New Year with a change of fortune can't come early enough..

Morecambe's unbeaten run falls flat on it's arse with a 1-2 defeat at the hands of a physical Accrington side who out muscled and forced the pace of the game in their favour.
Ex Shrimps loanee Phil Edward caused the damage on the day with two quick second half goals to give Stanley their third victory in a row over Morecambe despite a goal from Hunter on 68 mins and a host of chances to equalise late on.
Post match comments from a down in the dumps Sammy Mac :
"I was disappointed with the performance and that is something I have not had to say for a long time.Match report from the Official site.
"We had a massive chance to put a footing in the play-off spots but we let everyone down."

Dreaming of a white Christmas?
If the planned weather forecasts are anything to go by we could well be in for a white Christmas up in the 'Naples of the North'.
PPG will be away for a while but here's a few snaps taken on a trusty Kodak Disc 4000 during a Christmas afternoon mooch down the prom back in '85 to get you all in the festive spirit..

On a bitter cold Friday night on the East coast the Shrimps pick up a tricky point away at Grimsby and extend the unbeaten run to eight games with a battling defensive display and a solo goal from Paul Mullin half an hour before the final whistle.
